How to Book an Appointment for Aadhaar Enrolment?

Post demonetization, having an Aadhaar card has become even more essential than before. This 12 digit Aadhaar card number has become so important that almost all service providers such as banks and cell phone operators have made it mandatory to link their accounts & numbers with an aadhaar card.

Aadhaar is based on an individual’s biometric and demographic data which is collected by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), a statutory authority established in January 2009 by the government of India, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, following the provisions of the Aadhaar Act, 2016.

If you don’t have an aadhaar card, it’s high time you get one to make your life easier. Before applying, an individual has to book an appointment online for aadhaar card enrolment. Post this, they have to visit the enrolment centre for biometric verification.

Steps to Book an Appointment for Aadhaar Enrolment Online

The first step is to locate an aadhaar enrolment centre accessible to you. One can also directly visit the centre. However, this is not recommend as it is inconvenient and takes too much time. Once you have finalised a particular centre, book your online appointment at the official website of UID - uidai.gov.in. Simply follow these steps below for a smooth registration process.

  1. Visit the wenrol.uidai.gov.in/enrolment_request/view/enrol/home.php
  2. Read the Terms & Conditions carefully for the Enrolment Request Portal
  3. As a first-time applicant, select the box against the statement that says that you have not enrolled for Aadhaar earlier
  4. Enter the security code displayed on the screen
  5. Select the state of your residence
  6. Select the “verify and proceed” button that states your agreement to the terms and conditions
  7. Then, you will be taken to enrol.uidai.gov.in/enrolment_request/view/enrol/preEnrol.php?menu_id=a02&smsg=pass page.
  8. On this page an Enrolment Request Application form is available
  9. Carefully fill all your personal demographic details in the form and ensure it is accurate
  10. Click on “Save and Continue” button to save the duly filled form
  11. Review your form with all the filled details
  12. Double check for any errors as this is the last stage for making changes
  13. After reviewing the form, select the “Submit” button
  14. Now you will be asked to choose an enrolment centre
  15. The chosen enrolment centre is the place where your appointment for aadhaar has been booked

How to Get Enrolment for Aadhaar Card Online

Once you have successfully booked an appointment online, the next step is to visit the enrolment centre in order to submit all your biometric and demographic information.

This process comprises of the following steps:

  • An individual has to book an appointment online for aadhaar enrolment

  • Visit the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre post confirmation of appointment

  • Mention all the details and double check the duly filled form for correction

  • Submit their biometric data that include fingerprints of all 10 fingers and iris scan of both eyes and a photograph

After all the documents and biometric data are checked, you will get an acknowledgement slip of your enrolment having a 14-digit enrolment number and 14 digit Date-Time stamp on it, which will help you track the status of your application.

Process of Aadhaar Card Enrolment

There are three criteria which have to be met for aadhaar card enrolment.

  • Document Based: The application form has to accompanied with one Proof of Identity (POI) document and one valid Proof of Address (POA) document.

  • Head of Family: The Head of Family (HOF) may introduce family members by means of documents which establish Proof of Relationship (POR).

  • Introducer’s Reference: In the absence of a valid Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) document, an introducer’s reference can be utilised. An introducer is a person appointed by the Registrar and should have an aadhaar card.

Note: Every citizen has to go to an aadhaar camp or one of the Permanent Enrolment Centres for aadhaar enrolment.

Appointment for Aadhar Card

As mentioned above, an individual can directly visit a centre for enrolment. But the UIDAI also provides an option to book an appointment for the enrolment process. The single most advantage of booking is that your appointment is fixed and confirmed. It is convenient as the applicant does not have to wait in long queues for their turn and saves a lot of time.

Apart from this, the UIDAI has provided multiple options such as partnering with public and private sector banks for a hassle-free enrolment process. To avail this facility online, simply visit (uidai.gov.in/) and fill in the application form with all the requested credentials and details including the preferred location of the enrolment centre. After fixing the appointment, the applicant can begin their registration process.

How to Cancel and Reschedule Aadhaar Card Appointment?

UIDAI gives you an option to reschedule or cancel your online appointment for aadhaar enrollment online through their website. As a practice, you must keep your token number ready which was provided during the time of booking the appointment.

To cancel your aadhaar card appointment online, follow the below steps:

  1. Visit the official website appointments.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Enter your Token ID which you have got after fixing your aadhaar appointment.
  3. Enter your mobile number which you have used while booking your appointment.
  4. Click on ‘cancel appointment’ button to cancel your appointment.
  5. As soon as you cancel, you will automatically get an SMS stating that the appointment made under the previous token id has been cancelled

To reschedule your aadhaar card appointment online, follow the below steps:

  1. Visit the official website appointments.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Enter your Token ID which you have got after fixing your aadhaar appointment.
  3. Enter your mobile number which you used while booking your appointment.
  4. Click on ‘reschedule appointment’ button to reschedule your appointment.
  5. Fill up your preferred enrolment centre and location details, including the date and time of appointment.
  6. Enter the verification code.
  7. Click on ‘fix appointment’ button to confirm.
  8. You will also receive an SMS with all the details of your rescheduled appointment

List of Documents accepted for Aadhar Enrolment include the following

  • Proof of Identity: They include PAN card, passport, ration card, government id, driving license, arms license, voter id, school or college id, debit/credit card with a photo

  • Proof of Address: They include PAN card, passport, ration card, government id, arms license, voter id, bank statement or passbook

  • Proof of relationship: They include, passport, ration card, MNREGA job card, CGHS or ECHS photo card, pensioner photo card, marriage certificate with address

  • Proof of Date of Birth: They include, PAN card, passport, government id, SSC mark sheet, birth certificate
