Why Linking Aadhaar with Your Central Bank Account is Important?

Linking Aadhaar with your bank account ensures smoother verification, government benefit transfers, and compliance with certain regulatory requirements. Here’s why

  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Eligibility

  • Under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, Aadhaar linking is required to receive government subsidies, pensions, LPG subsidy, scholarships, and welfare benefits directly into your bank account.

  • KYC Compliance for Banking

  • Aadhaar is accepted as a valid OVD (Officially Valid Document) under the Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) Rules, 2005, making Aadhaar-based e-KYC faster, safer, and fully compliant.

  • Fraud Prevention & Secure Authentication

  • Aadhaar-enabled verification strengthens security and reduces identity-related fraud during banking transactions.

  • Faster Account Authentication in Digital Services

  • Aadhaar-linked accounts support AEPS, UPI verification, e-KYC, and quick identity validation for various digital services.

  • Convenience for Customers

  • Makes updating details, activating DBT schemes, and accessing government services smoother without repeated document submissions.

  • Regulatory Compliance

  • Banks follow Aadhaar-based KYC norms as permitted under the Supreme Court judgment (2018), which allows Aadhaar for voluntary banking use with customer consent.
