Driving License in Arunachal Pradesh

A vehicle insurance is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Arunachal Pradesh RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

The Regional Transport Authority of Arunachal Pradesh has listed down the below eligibility requirements for letting an individual avail a DL in the state.

• The applicant must be at least 16 years of age to drive motorcycle not exceeding an engine capacity of 50cc.
• The applicant must be at least 18 years of age to drive a private vehicle.
• The applicant must be at least 20 years of age to drive a non-transport vehicle.
• The applicant applying for a DL for a non-transport vehicle should have one year of experience of driving a light motor vehicle.
• The applicant must possess a valid learner’s license.
• The applicant must apply for a permanent DL 30 days after applying for a learner’s license.
• The applicant should be aware of all the traffic rules and regulations.

Applying for a driving license in Arunachal Pradesh is simple as the applicant can easily avail a DL in the state by following the below mentioned steps:

• Visit the RTO in your jurisdiction
• Collect the application form 4 or form 5, depending on the type of DL you are applying for.
• Fill the form completely
• Submit it along with the required documents mentioned above
• Pay the fees and you will be issued an acknowledgement receipt.
• Book a slot for your driving test.
• Reach the RTO for appearing for the test half an hour before the given date and time

In Arunachal Pradesh, an applicant can apply for a DL only after holding a learner’s license for more than 30days.

A driving license issued in Arunachal Pradesh is valid for 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is earlier. A DL issued for a commercial transport vehicle is valid for a period of 3 years. On the expiry of the DL, the applicant has to renew the DL within a period of 5 years. If the applicant does not renew the DL within 5 years, then he will have to obtain a fresh driving license.

To renew driving license in Arunachal Pradesh, an applicant will have to submit the below documents:

• Driving license
• Application form 9
• Application fees
• Form 1 i.e. self-declaration physical fitness form for non-transport vehicle
• FoRm 1A i.e. form for a medical certificate for a transport vehicle
• Application fee of Rs. 200 and additional fee in case the applicant applies for renewal after the grace period of 30 days.

Procedure for renewal of Driving License in Arunachal Pradesh :

The applicant applying for renewal of DL will have to visit the nearest RTO and fill the form provided there. On filling the form, the applicant will have to attach all the required documents with it and then submit it to the office. On verification of the documents, the renewed DL will be sent to the applicant via speed post.

In the state of Arunachal Pradesh, the driving license test is conducted to test an applicant’s driving skills. The test is conducted as per the rule 15 of the Motor Vehicles Inspector in the presence of a motor vehicle inspector.
