Learning License in Himachal Pradesh

Driving a motor vehicle is a passion for people who love speed and are adventurous. However, driving carelessly can cause a mishap that can eventually lead to loss of life of the driver or the passers-by even. Hence, the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for an individual to obtain a driving license. In the state of Himachal Pradesh, no person can drive a vehicle in public areas of the state without holding a driving license. To obtain the Himachal Pradesh driving license, an individual has to obtain a learning license. A learning license is a temporary license that is issued for a period of 6 months to allow an individual to learn driving on Indian roads. • Learning license for a private vehicle is issued to an individual who is above the age of 18 years.
• Learning license for a commercial vehicle is given to an individual who is above the age of 20 years.
• Learning license for a motor vehicle not exceeding an engine capacity of 50cc is given to an individual who is above the age of 16 years.
• The learning license should have knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.

Online application process for obtaining a learning license in Himachal Pradesh

• Click on e-services and select online learner and driving licenses
• The applicant will be directed to himachal.nic.in
• Enter the name of the state-Himachal Pradesh
• Click on apply online and select new learning license
• Fill and submit the form online
• Upload relevant documents along with
• Book a slot for the learning license test
• Appear for the test on the given date and time
• The learning license is issued to the applicant on passing the test

Offline application process for obtaining a learning license in Himachal Pradesh

• Visit the nearest RTO office
• Collect the application form or download the form online
• Fill the form with appropriate details
• Submit the relevant documents along with
• Pay the application fees
• Book a slot for the LL test
• Visit the RTO office to give the test
• On passing the test, the learning license is delivered to the applicant’s doorstep.

Appearing for a learning license test in Himachal Pradesh is mandatory as per the law. If an individual does not give the test, then he won’t be able to get a learning license and further apply for a permanent driving license. To give the test, the applicant has to first book a slot that can be done online or at the RTO. On booking the test, the applicant has to visit the RTO for giving the test. During the test, the applicant’s knowledge of traffic rules and regulations will be tested through objective type questions.
