Rule 15 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1989 states that an applicant has to pass the ‘Test of Competence Test’ to obtain a driving license. In the Union Territory of Chandigarh, a driving test is conducted as per the rule of MVA and below is the procedure mentioned for the same.
The applicant is expected to display his driving skills by successfully driving along the test tracks by following the road signs and markings done on the track. Applicant will have to drive along various curves, incline and decline features, T-intersections, reverse from a blind alley and others.
The driving test is conducted in the presence of the Motor Vehicle Inspector on whose satisfaction the driving license will be issued to the applicant.
So, an applicant has to make sure that he does the following things correctly, in order to pass the test:
- Adjust the rear view mirror properly
- Take suitable measures before starting the engine
- When driving downhill, lower the gears quickly
- Regulate speed from time to time as per road and traffic conditions
- Make proper use of clutch, gears, brakes, steering and horn and others
