Driving License in Haryana

To apply for a driving license in the state of Haryana one has to comply with a list of rules and regulations set by the State vehicles department. A driving license is an official document that lets an individual ply his motor vehicles in public areas in Haryana. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for a vehicle owner to possess a driving license to be able to drive his motor vehicle freely in India. To be able to apply for a driving license in Haryana, an applicant should follow the below list of eligibility requirements:

  • The applicant should be above the age of 16 if applying for a vehicle not exceeding engine capacity of 50CC.

  • Ask an RTO official to fill the DL application form online

How to Obtain a Duplicate Driving License in Haryana?

A duplicate driving license in Haryana is issued to an applicant if his original driving license is stolen, lost or damaged. An application for a duplicate driving license in Haryana has to be made within 6 months from the date of loss.

The RTO of Haryana provides for the renewal of driving license in Haryana on expiry of the original DL. A permanent DL issued in Haryana is valid for a period of 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is earlier for the applicant. A commercial DL issued in Haryana is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issuance. Renewal of driving license in Haryana has to be done within 30 days from the date of expiry of the original DL.

The applicant will have to visit the RTO for verification of the documents on the basis of which the renewed DL is issued to him on the same day.

How to Obtain an International Driving License in Haryana?

The Haryana RTO issues an international DL to an individual who wishes to drive a motor vehicle abroad. This type of license is issued for a period of 1 year to an individual who is above the age of 18 years. Giving a driving test for this type of license is mandatory if the application for the IDP is made within 3 months from the date of issuance of the permanent license.

  • Valid passport

Procedure for obtaining an international driving license in Haryana

An application for an international DL has to be made at the Haryana RTO either online or through the offline process. Once the form and the documents are submitted, the verification process will be conducted on the basis of which the IDP is issued to the applicant. The international DL in Haryana is issued to the applicant in person.

Driving License Test Procedure in Haryana

A driving license in Haryana cannot be obtained without appearing for a DL test. A DL test in Haryana has to be given at the RTO. The test is conducted as per rule 15 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in presence of a Motor Vehicles Inspector. If the applicant passes the test, then the DL is delivered to his doorstep within a span of 7 days.
