Driving License in Haryana

To apply for a driving license in the state of Haryana one has to comply with a list of rules and regulations set by the State vehicles department. A driving license is an official document that lets an individual ply his motor vehicles in public areas in Haryana. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for a vehicle owner to possess a driving license to be able to drive his motor vehicle freely in India. A driving license in Haryana can be obtained by applying for it either by the online or offline application process. To be eligible to apply for Haryana driving license, an applicant has to first obtain a learner’s license from the Haryana RTO, after which he can apply for a permanent DL in the state.

Online application for obtaining a permanent driving license in Haryana

• Visit Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Website-parivahan.gov.in
• Click on online services and select driving license related services
• Enter the name of the state
• Click on apply online and new driving license
• Fill out the applicant details and submit the form online
• Upload the required documents online
• Visit the RTO for verification of the documents
• Book a test slot for the driving test
• Pay the application fee
• Appear for DL test as per the scheduled date and time
• Pass the DL test to obtain the license

Offline application for obtaining a permanent driving license in Haryana

• Visit the RTO
• Ask an RTO official to fill the DL application form online
• Attach all the required documents with the form and submit it to the RTO office
• Pay the application fees
• Book a slot for the driving test
• Visit the test venue on the given date and time
• On passing the driving test, the DL is delivered to the applicant’s doorstep.

The RTO of Haryana provides for the renewal of driving license in Haryana on expiry of the original DL. A permanent DL issued in Haryana is valid for a period of 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is earlier for the applicant. A commercial DL issued in Haryana is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issuance. Renewal of driving license in Haryana has to be done within 30 days from the date of expiry of the original DL.

Procedure for renewal of driving license in Haryana

If the application for renewal of driving license in Haryana is not made within a period of 30 days, then the applicant will have to pay an additional fee of Rs. 1000 per year for late renewal. The application for renewal of DL can be made online or directly at the RTO. The applicant will have to visit the RTO for verification of the documents on the basis of which the renewed DL is issued to him on the same day.

A driving license in Haryana cannot be obtained without appearing for a DL test. A DL test in Haryana has to be given at the RTO. The test is conducted as per rule 15 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in presence of a Motor Vehicles Inspector. If the applicant passes the test, then the DL is delivered to his doorstep within a span of 7 days.
