Driving License in Srinagar

• The applicant must have completed 16 years of age to obtain a DL for motorcycle not exceeding an engine capacity of 50cc.

• For transport vehicle driving license, the applicant should have completed the age of 16 years.

Online application process for obtaining a driving license in Srinagar

• Visit parivahan.gov.in/
• Click on online services and select driving license related services
• Enter the name of the state-Jammu & Kashmir
• Click on apply online and new driving license
• Continue with filling the applicant details
• Upload the relevant documents
• Upload photo, signature and book a slot for the DL test and then pay the fees (Check if this facility is available for the RTO where you are applying for the DL. If not, then visit the RTO to complete the application process.)
• Appear for the driving license test on the scheduled time and date
• On passing the test, the driving license will be issued to the applicant.

Offline application process for obtaining a driving license in Srinagar

• Visit the nearest RTO office
• Collect the form from the office or download the form online through jaktrans.nic.in
• Fill the form with appropriate details
• Submit the relevant documents along with the form
• Book a slot for your driving license test
• Visit the test venue on the given date and time
• If the applicant passes the test, the applicant will be issued the DL.

The Srinagar RTO issues a renewed driving license to the applicant on expiry of the original driving license. A driving license issued in Srinagar is valid for a period of 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is early for the applicant. A driving license issued for a commercial DL is issued for a period of 3 years.

Procedure to apply for renewal of driving license in Srinagar

Application for renewal of driving license in Srinagar has to be made within 30 days from the date of expiry. If the applicant does not make an application for renewal of DL within the grace period, then he will have to pay an application fee of Rs. 1000 as fees for late renewal. Application for renewal of DL in Srinagar can be made through parivahan.gov.in or offline directly at the RTO office. On verification of the documents, the renewed DL will be issued to the applicant on the same day.

To obtain a driving license in Srinagar, it is mandatory for an individual to pass the driving license test which is conducted to test the applicants driving skills. The test is conducted as per rule 15 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 in presence of a Motor Vehicles Inspector. The applicant will have to pay an application fee to appear for the test. On passing the test, the driving license will be delivered to the applicant at his doorstep. However, if the applicant fails the test, then he can re-appear for the test after 7 days.
