• Download the form from Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Department website- jhtransport.gov.in/forms.html. The applicant will then have to fill the form and submit to the RTO along with the relevant documents.
• The applicant can also apply for a DL in Jharkhand through Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website, parivahan.gov.in/parivahan. If applying through this website, the applicant will have to do the following:
  • Click on online services and select driving license related services
  • Select name of the state-Jharkhand
  • Click on apply online and select new driving license.
  • Fill the applicant details and upload documents.
  • Upload your photograph and signature, (check if this facility is applicable for your state).
  • Take print out of all the documents and the form submitted.
  • Book a slot for your DL test (check if this facility is applicable for your state)
  • Pay the application fees.
  • On doing this, a web application number will be generated. If DL slot booking online facility is not applicable for your state, then you will have to visit the RTO with your original documents and book a slot for your DL test to be conducted.
  • Appear for the driving license test.

To apply for a driving license offline in Jharkhand, an applicant will have to follow the below process:

• Visit the nearest RTO office.
• Collect the application form and fill it.
• Attach all the required documents and submit them along with the form to the RTO.
• Pay the application fees
• Book a slot for your DL test
• Appear for the driving license test on the given date and time.

If the applicant passes the driving test, then the driving license will be delivered to the applicant via speed post within 3 days.

In the state of Jharkhand, a driving license is valid for 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is earlier. A vehicle owner is obligated to renew his driving license on expiry if he wishes to drive his vehicle freely in public areas in Jharkhand.

Procedure for application of renewing driving license in Jharkhand:

• An applicant can renew driving license in Jharkhand by downloading the form from jhtransport.gov.in/forms.html.
• The applicant can also apply for a renewed DL through parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/. By renewing through this website, the applicant can fill the form online, upload the documents and also pay the fees online and then take a printout of all the forms and documents submitted and visit the RTO to take the process ahead.
• The applicant can also directly visit the RTO office and collect the form, fill and submit it to the RTO office along with all the required documents.
• On verification of the form and the documents, the applicant will be issued the renewed DL via speed post within 3 days.

A driving license test is a mandatory process that an applicant has to go through in order to obtain a driving license in the state of Jharkhand. A DL test is conducted to judge an applicant’s driving license skills. The test is conducted as per the rules of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
