Learning License in Rajasthan

A learning license in Rajasthan is issued to an individual to give him the legal freedom to practice driving on Indian roads in the supervision of an individual who holds a valid driving license. The Rajasthan RTO functions as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 that makes it mandatory for an individual to hold a learning license. On getting a learning license, an individual can apply for a permanent driving license. To obtain a learning license in Rajasthan, an individual has to go through an application process and pass a test, post which he will be issued the LL. A learning license in Rajasthan is issued for a period of 6 months within which the applicant has to make an application for obtaining a permanent DL. A motor insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Rajasthan RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

Types of Learning License issued in Rajasthan

An individual applying for a learning license in Rajasthan is issued a learning license on the basis of the vehicle type he wants to learn to drive.

  • Driving license issued for a motorcycle without gear: This learning license type is issued for driving gearless vehicles such as scooters and mopeds.
  • Driving license issued for a light motor vehicle: This type of learning license is issued for driving vehicles such as a car, bike, etc.
  • Driving license issued for a heavy motor vehicle: This type of learning license is issued for driving vehicles such as a truck, lorry, trailer, etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Obtaining a Learning License in Rajasthan

  • To obtain a learning license for a light motor vehicle, an individual should have attained the age of 18 years.
  • Learning license for a vehicle not exceeding an engine capacity of 50cc is issued to an individual who has attained the age of 16.
  • Learning license for a commercial vehicle is issued to an individual who has attained the age of 20.

How to Obtain a Learning License in Rajasthan?

Applying for a learning license in Rajasthan is an easy and hassle-free process as the applicant can process an application via the online or offline facility. However, an applicant can make an application for a learning license only on complying with the above-mentioned eligibility requirements.

Online application process for obtaining a learning license in Rajasthan

  • Visit parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Website
  • Click on online services and select driving license related services
  • Enter the name of the state-Rajasthan
  • Click on apply online and new learning license
  • Fill out the form and submit it online
  • Upload scanned copies of the documents
  • Upload photo and signature too
  • Pay the application fees
  • Book a slot for the LL test
  • The applicant will receive a confirmation and an application number
  • An acknowledge slip is sent which the applicant will have to take a print of

How to Obtain a Duplicate Learning License in Rajasthan?

On the grounds of theft, loss or damage of the original learning license, the Rajasthan RTO issues a duplicate LL which gives an individual the freedom to continue driving a motor vehicle in the company of a permanent DL holder.

Procedure to obtain a duplicate learning license in Rajasthan

An application for a duplicate learning license in Rajasthan has to made at the RTO stating the reason for availing a duplicate LL. An application for a duplicate DL in Rajasthan can be made online through parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/ or directly at the RTO. Once the application is processed, the applicant will have to visit the RTO for verification of the documents. On the basis of verification of the documents, the duplicate LL is issued to the applicant. If the applicant is applying for a duplicate LL due to theft of the original learning license, then he will have to file an FIR or else the application will be rejected.

Learning License Test Procedure in Rajasthan

To obtain a learning license in Rajasthan, it is mandatory for an individual to appear for the LL test. The LL test slot can be booked online or directly at the RTO on submission of the above-mentioned documents and payment of the application fees. Once the application is processed, the applicant will have to visit the prescribed counter for verification of the documents. The applicant’s photo and signature will be captured in the RTO. The applicant will then be sent a password via SMS on his registered mobile number. The applicant will then have to appear for the LL test online. He will be required to enter the password sent and he can then proceed ahead with the test. The test will be conducted in presence of a Motor Vehicles Inspector.

During the test, the applicant will be asked about several traffic rules and regulations and road safety. If the applicant passes the test, the learning license will be issued. However, if the applicant fails the test, then he will have to re-appear for the test the next day.
