A driving license not only acts as an official document but also as an important identity proof. An applicant can apply for a permanent DL in West Bengal only after getting a learning license. An application for a permanent DL can be made after 30 days or within 180 days from the date of issuance of the learning license. However, if an individual loses the permanent DL within a period of 6 months i.e. the validity of 6 months, then he can obtain a duplicate learning license.
A duplicate learning license in West Bengal is issued to an individual who loses his original LL due to theft, damage or its loss.

Procedure to obtain a duplicate learning license in West Bengal
To obtain a duplicate learning license in WB, an applicant has to first make a written application at the RTO. The applicant has to also file an affidavit stating the loss and declaring that he shall rightfully return the learning license if found. An application has to be made at the RTO either directly at the RTO or online through Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Website- parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/. The applicant has to visit the RTO for verification of the documents. On the basis of verification of the documents, the duplicate LL is issued to the applicant.
