Driving License in Bhopal

Bhopal is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The Transport Department of Bhopal is established to carry out the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The Regional Transport Office of Bhopal has come into being to ensure swift working of the transport system in the city of Bhopal. To ensure an effective road transport system, driving license permit has come into being that gives an individual the legal freedom to ply his vehicle in public areas of Bhopal. • The applicant must hold a valid learner’s license and can apply for a permanent DL 30 days after or within 180 days from the date of issuance of the LL.

Online application process for obtaining a driving license in Bhopal: To apply for a driving license online in Bhopal, an applicant will have to follow the below mentioned steps.

• Visit www.mptransport.org/MPTS/Default.htm
• Click on license appointment
• Then select fresh under the DL-Driving License section
• Enter your learner’s license number and date of birth
• Then proceed with the application.
• Visit the RTO office to submit the documents
• Once the documents are submitted, pay the application fees
• Then book a slot for your driving license test.
• Select the time and date as per your convenience
• Appear for the driving license test
• If you pass the test, your driving license will be issued to you within 3-4 weeks.

Offline application process for obtaining a driving license in Bhopal:

• Visit the nearest RTO office
• Collect the form. The applicant can also download the form online www.mptransport.org/MPTS/forms.htm
• Fill the form and submit it to the RTO office along with the required documents.
• Once the form and the documents are submitted, make the applicable payment.
• Ask an RTO official to schedule your driving license test.
• Appear for the test.
• If the applicant passes the test, the DL will be issued to him in a few days’ time.

A driving license issued in Bhopal is valid all over India. However, the driving license is subject to renewal after 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is early for the applicant.

Procedure for renewal of driving license in Bhopal

An applicant has to renew driving license within 30 days from the date of expiry. If the applicant does not renew his driving license within the grace period of 30 days, then he will be charged an additional fee of Rs. 1000 per year for late renewal.

An applicant can apply for renewal of driving license online through www.mptransport.org/MPTS/Default.htm. The applicant will have to enter his license number and date of birth and other required details. Once the online application process is initiated, the applicant will have to visit the RTO with the required documents. On verification of the documents, the renewed DL will be issued to the applicant on the same day. The applicant can also apply for renewal of DL offline at the RTO.

The applicant will have to collect the form or download the form online www.mptransport.org/MPTS/forms.htm. The applicant will then have to fill in the form and submit it to the RTO with the relevant documents. Once the form and the documents are verified, the renewed DL will be issued to the applicant.

An applicant applying for a driving license in Bhopal will have to appear for a driving license test which will be conducted in the presence of a Motor Vehicles Inspector. For the two-wheeler and three-wheeler test, the applicant will have to drive his vehicle along an ‘8’ figure track and for the four-wheeler test, the applicant will have to drive the vehicle along the ‘H’ shaped track. During the time of the test, the applicant will have to make sure that he shifts the gears smoothly, makes proper use of the rear view mirrors, does not stop the vehicle until it turns off completely and others.
