Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana (MAAY) is a state government health insurance scheme in Rajasthan that provides cashless medical treatment and financial protection against healthcare expenses. The scheme was originally launched on 1 May 2021 as Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana to expand affordable healthcare access to residents of the state. In February 2024, the Rajasthan government renamed it to Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana (MAAY) while retaining its core benefits. Overall, the scheme aims to reduce out-of-pocket medical costs by offering high-value health insurance coverage for hospitalisation and treatment at empanelled hospitals.

This government scheme offers annual health coverage of up to ₹25 lakh, helping residents access hospital care without facing large medical expenses.
₹25 lakh annual health coverage per family for hospitalisation
₹10 lakh accident insurance for accidental death or disability
Cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals
Coverage for secondary and tertiary care treatments
Pre-existing diseases covered under the scheme
Large network of empanelled hospitals across Rajasthan
Free coverage for eligible groups such as NFSA and SECC beneficiaries
Affordable enrolment option for other residents with a nominal premium
Integrated with Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY benefits
Here are the benefits of MAAY:
Residents of Rajasthan enrolled in the scheme can receive hospital treatment without paying upfront, up to the specified annual coverage limit.
The Rajasthan government bears the insurance premium for families covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) categories, small and marginal farmers, and contract workers.
Households not included in the eligible categories can still enrol in the scheme by paying an annual premium of ₹850.
Eligibility for Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana is divided into two main categories: families receiving free coverage and families enrolling with a subsidised premium.
Applicants must be residents of the state and registered with Jan Aadhaar or other recognised state databases.
The government pays the full premium for families covered under NFSA (National Food Security Act), SECC 2011 households, small and marginal farmers, and contract workers in state government departments or public sector units.
Families not included in the free category and not covered under government employee medical attendance rules can still enrol by paying a subsidised premium of ₹850 per family per year, with the remaining premium paid by the state government.
Economically Weaker Section (EWS) families are also included among the eligible beneficiaries under the scheme.
Under Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, the Rajasthan government pays the entire insurance premium for several vulnerable groups to ensure free health coverage. These include BPL families, NFSA ration cardholders, households identified in SECC 2011, small and marginal farmers, contractual workers in state departments, and eligible EWS families. As a result, these beneficiaries can access the scheme’s health insurance benefits without paying any enrolment premium.
Certain groups are not eligible under Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, including non-residents of Rajasthan, state and central government employees, pensioners, and individuals already covered under other government medical attendance schemes. In addition, treatments or procedures that are not included in the scheme’s approved hospital package list are generally not covered under MAAY.
