Peerless Fund Management Company is one of the most prominent and first investment management company of eastern India - Kolkata. The company was established as a trust on 4th Aug, 2009 with the provisions of the Indian Trusts Act. Peerless Mutual Fund has been renamed as Essel Mutual Fund with effect from November 1, 2017. Subsequently, the names of the Asset Management Company has been changed from 'Peerless Funds Management Co Limited' to 'Essel Finance AMC limited with effect from October 24, 2017. Also, the name of the trustee company has been changed from 'Peerless Trust Management' to 'Essel MF Trustee' with effect from October 30, 2017.

Currently, Essel Finance Wealth Zone Private Limited (EFWZ), a wholly owned subsidiary of Essel Finance Management LLP, has acquired the complete shareholding of Essel Finance AMC Limited(formerly Peerless Funds Management Company Limited [PFMCL]) and Essel MF Trustee Limited (formerly Peerless Trust Management Company Limited).

As per the new ownership, Essel Mutual Fund is registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) with Essel Finance Wealth Zone Private Limited (EFWZ) as its Sponsor.

Essel Finance AMC Limited is the Investment Manager to Essel Mutual Fund and Essel MF Trustee Limited is the Trustee to Essel Mutual Fund.
