Step 1: All you have to do is log on to the income tax website and select Challan 280 option.

Step 3: You then need to enter all your necessary details in the form like the PAN details, assessment year, residential address, email address, and mobile number.
Step 4: Post which, you need to choose the type of tax payment i.e. it can be the Tax on Regular Assessment, Advance Tax, Self-Assessment Tax, Surtax, Tax on Distributed Profit, Tax on Distributed Income.
Step 5: Once you have chosen the type of tax, filled up all the required details, and choose the bank through which you would make payment from, you will also have to fill in the captcha code.

Step 7: After you click the ‘process’ button, you will be directed to the bank’s page where you need to enter your login details, income tax amount, and other details like the account holder’s name, account number etc.
Step 8: Post the payment is made, you get an email where you can download the PDF copy.

Step 1: When you intend on using the offline method, you will need to download the challan 280 online (from the income tax website).
Step 2: Fill in details like PAN, assessment year, residential address, email id, and mobile number.
Step 3: Along with the filled form, you also need to take the amount of tax you are liable to pay and then physically go to the bank and make payment towards your income tax.
