The RTO office of Raipur was established under the provisions of the Motor vehicles act, 1988. The department deals with regulatory and enforcement functions assigned to it to carry out transport related matters.
The RTO department is headed by the Transport Commissioner and is responsible to carry out organised public transport system in the city of Raipur which comes under Chhattisgarh Transport Department.
A motor insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Raipur RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
