Surat RTO

The Surat RTO was established under the provisions of section 213 of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988. Its core function is to enforce the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Gujarat Motor Vehicles Act, 1989 and to abide the rules framed under these two acts.

The RTO office comes under Transport Department which is headed by the Transport Commissioner (TC) and assisted by Joint Director and OSD specializing in Enforcement, Administration and Finance in the Head office.

1. Driving License related work

  • Organize test and issue learning license for vehicles
  • Issue New & Renewal of Driving License
  • Issue of International Driving License
  • Addition of a new class of Vehicle to Driving License
  • Motor Driving School license issue and renewal
  • Professional Driving Instructor's License issuance and renewal
  • Issue of Conductor's License

2. Registration of Vehicle related work

  • Registration Certificate for Motor Vehicles issuance and renewal
  • Transfer of Ownership in Registration Certificate of a Motor Vehicle
  • Entry/Termination of Hire-Purchase/Lease/Hypothecation in R.C. Book
  • Updating Registration Certificate
  • Issue Temporary Registration Certificate
  • No Objection Certificate(NOC)
  • Renewal of Trade Certificate
  • Vehicle Fitness Certificate

3. Revenue Collection for the Government of Gujarat
