The Vijayawada RTO functions under the provisions of section 213 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. Its main aim is to bring in the enforcement of the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1963 and the rules that come under the act.
It also assists Transport Department of Andhra Pradesh in the development of transport facilities and works together to provide an effective, suitable and economic transport service for the movement of passengers and goods on its roads.
A motor insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Vijayawada RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
