How to Check UIDAI Aadhaar Card Status

The UIDAI has made it very convenient for the Indian citizens by introducing online services. One can choose any option as and when required like locating enrolment centres, updating Aadhaar, or checking the Aadhaar status online. The entire process is hassle-free and simple to understand. However, in case one needs to know the status of their Aadhaar card online, they can log on to resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar-status and uidai gov check your Aadhaar status.

Following are the steps to check your Aadhaar card status online.

  • Step1: Visit www.uidai.gov.in

  • Step2: Click on Check Aadhar Card Status which will route you to resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar-status

  • Step3: Enter the enrolment ID number

  • Step4: Enter Date/Time in dd/mm/yyyy and hh:mm:ss format

  • Step5: Enter the security code

  • Step6: In case you are unable to view or click you can click on 'try another'.

  • Step7: Click on Check Status

Post which the status of Aadhaar will be displayed on your screen. To Check your Aadhaar status You can find your enrolment number on the acknowledgment slip that will be 14 digits (XXXX/XXXXX/XXXXX). Date and time can also be found on that slip. The enrolment number and date/time together constitute your Enrolment ID (EID).

Steps for Online Mobile/Phone Number Verification for Aadhaar Card

You can also check your Aadhar status online through your mobile number. However, one will have to first verify the mobile number and then check the status online.

Following are the steps to verify your mobile number online.

  1. Go to the UIDAI Aadhaar portal and click on “Verify Email / Mobile Number” under the “My Aadhaar” section. (https://uidai.gov.in/en/my-aadhaar/avail-aadhaar-services.htm)

  2. Select the option “Verify Mobile Number”.

  3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, the mobile number you want to verify, and the captcha code shown.

  4. Click on “Send OTP”.

  5. Enter the OTP received on the mobile number.

  6. You’ll see a confirmation message:

    • “The mobile number you have entered is already verified with our records” if that number is linked.
    • Or an alert if it doesn’t match UIDAI records.
  7. (Optional) You can also verify via the mAadhaar app using the Verify email/mobile feature → enter Aadhaar + mobile → send OTP or use TOTP → verify.

Important Note

  • If the mobile number you entered is not linked, you cannot update it fully online — you must visit an Aadhaar Seva Centre to add or change the number.

  • This online verification only checks whether a number is already linked; it does not allow adding a new mobile number online.

Steps to Check Aadhar Card Status through Mobile Number

There is another method through which the applicant can check the status of their Aadhaar, i.e. through the mobile number. Since mobile is handy, you can check the status of your Aadhaar anytime and anywhere. One can check Aadhar Card status through mobile number via SMS and by dialling the toll-free number from your registered mobile number.

  • The prerequisite for checking status via SMS is:

    • Enrolment number (14-digit) or EID (28-digit)

    • Enrolment date and time in acknowledgement slip or enrolment slip

    • Registered Aadhaar mobile number

Note: Aadhar card status cannot be found without the above-mentioned details. And if you have lost your Aadhaar card enrolment slip and the details, the UIDAI site provides you the option to find the enrolment details on their website

How to Check Aadhaar Status via a Toll-Free Number?

You can check your Aadhaar status by calling the UIDAI toll-free number: 1947.

Steps:

  • Dial 1947 from your registered or any mobile number.

  • Choose your preferred language from the IVR menu.

  • Select the option for Aadhaar status / enrolment status.

  • Enter your 14-digit Enrolment ID (EID) and the date/time stamp from your acknowledgement slip.

  • The system will tell you whether your Aadhaar has been generated, is still under process, or if any action is needed.

Steps to Check Aadhar Card Status by Enrolment Number

Here are the steps to check Aadhaar status using your Enrolment Number (EID):

  • Visit the UIDAI website’s “Check Aadhaar Status” page.

  • Enter your 28-digit Enrolment ID (the 14-digit EID + 14-digit date/time stamp from your acknowledgement slip).

  • Fill in the captcha code.

  • Click on “Check Status”.

  • Your Aadhaar enrolment status will be displayed — it could show stages like “under process”, “generated”, or any pending updates.

You can also check via:

  • mAadhaar app — go to the “Enrolment & Update Status” section, enter EID + captcha, and tap “Check Status”.

  • SMS — send UID STATUS <14-digit EID> to 51969 to receive your status via message.

Steps to Check Aadhar Card status without Enrolment Number

If you have misplaced your acknowledgement slip or have forgotten your enrolment number, you can you can find your enrolment number and then check your Aadhar card status with the enrolment number. However, you can also do it without the enrolment number.

The following are the steps to check the Aadhaar card status without Enrolment Number:

  • Visit www.uidai.gov.in/edetails.aspx and click on Retrieve Lost UID/EID.
  • It will take you to the page resident.uidai.gov.in/find-uid-eid, where you can retrieve your details.
  • Enter your name, email address or mobile number, and security code and click on send OTP.
  • Enter the OTP in the box provided and click on Verify OTP
  • Once the OTP is verified, the Enrolment number/Aadhaar number is sent to the email id and mobile number of the applicant
  • Using the enrolment number, the applicant can then check the status of Aadhaar.

How to Check Aadhar Card Status by Name?

To check the Aadhar card status, one can follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI or click on the link www.uidai.gov.in/edetails.aspx

  • Select Retrieve Lost UID/EID or click on resident.uidai.gov.in/find-uid-eid

  • You can type your name, email address, mobile number, and security code and click on send OTP.

  • OTP will be sent on your mobile phone, you can verify the same and enter the OTP in the box provided on the right-hand side.

  • Ensure that the mobile number, email and name used are the same as mentioned during registration.

  • Once EID is retrieved, you can do a conventional Aadhaar status check using EID.

Steps to Check Aadhar Card Update Status Through India Post

After UIDAI generates and dispatches your Aadhaar, note the consignment / tracking number sent to you (usually via SMS or email from UIDAI) — this is required to track delivery.

  1. Open the India Post tracking page in your browser: www.indiapost.gov.in/vas/Pages/IndiaPostHome.aspx#

  2. On the India Post page, find the Consignment/Track & Trace box or the “Track” field.

  3. Enter your consignment / tracking number exactly as received (no spaces).

  4. Click Track (or press Enter).

  5. The page will display the current delivery status: e.g., In Transit, Out for Delivery, Delivered — plus date/time and location history.

  6. If needed, click any available “SMS/Email alerts” option to get delivery updates, or note the delivery office details shown.

  7. If the status shows no movement or delivery is delayed beyond the expected timeframe, contact the local India Post office shown in the tracking details or call India Post customer care for clarification.

  8. If India Post shows delivered but you haven’t received the Aadhaar, contact UIDAI (toll-free 1947) and India Post together, providing your EID/Aadhaar number and the consignment ID.

Tip: keep your consignment number and UIDAI acknowledgement handy until you receive the physical Aadhaar.

How to Check Aadhaar PVC Card Order Status?

The Aadhaar PVC card is a durable, credit-card-sized version of your Aadhaar that comes with enhanced security features like hologram, micro-text, and a secure QR code. Here’s how you can check the status of your order:

Steps to Check Your PVC Aadhaar Card Order Status

  • Visit the UIDAI order status page: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/checkStatus

  • Enter your 28-digit SRN (Service Request Number) received after placing the PVC card order.

  • Enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID).

  • Fill in the captcha shown on the screen.

  • Click Submit / Check Status.

  • Your PVC card status will be displayed (Processing, Printed, Dispatched, Delivered).

Alternative Method (Using mAadhaar App)

  • Open the mAadhaar app → go to Check Request Status.

  • Select PVC Card Request Status.

  • Enter your SRN + captcha → tap Check Status.

Status Messages Explained

  • Processing – UIDAI received your request and is working on it.

  • Printed – Your Aadhaar PVC has been printed.

  • Dispatched – Sent to India Post for delivery.
