How to Link Aadhaar Card with EPF Account

Linking your 12 digit aadhaar number to your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) has many advantages, especially for those employees who intend to withdraw money from their EPF account. A PF scheme, also known as a Provident Fund, is a plan where the employee and the employer jointly contribute towards a corpus fund which is received by an employee on retirement. The EPF account is represented through a Universal Account Number (UAN). Essentially the UAN has to be seeded with an aadhaar card to link the PF to it.

Note: It is mandatory for employees to link their aadhaar card with their Universal Account Number (UAN). This has been established by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

So if you have a UAN number, you can link your EPF account with an aadhaar card, online as well as offline.

  1. Visit the EPFO branch and fill in the ‘Aadhaar Seeding Application Form’
  2. Carefully fill in the requested aadhaar card number and UAN details

Benefits of Linking Aadhaar with EPF account?

  • Since the aadhaar card holds relevant information regarding the identity, linking it with an EPF account reduces the chances of errors with your EPF and UAN
  • Prevents misuse in the form of a duplicate account. An employee can only have a single EPF or a UAN account linked to an aadhaar card
  • Once linked, a cardholder can withdraw money without the employer’s permission
  • It becomes easier to verify your details if you link your aadhaar card with EPF account as it contains all your biometrics and demographic information
