A driving license is a mandatory requirement for all those who wish to ride a motor vehicle on Indian roads. No matter what type of vehicle you desire to drive or ride, if you do not have a valid driving license, you cannot legally ply your vehicle on the road. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for every vehicle owner to procure a driving license in order to legally drive a vehicle in public places.
But the first step towards getting a driving license is by applying for one by filing out/procuring a driving license form.
A DL form is an application form that requires you to fill in your basic details on the basis of which your driving license will be produced. A driving license is your identity document that is issued by the regional transport office (RTO). To obtain a driving license, you will first have to procure a driving license form from the RTO office in your jurisdiction.
You can also get a DL form online from your state transport department’s website, only if this facility is available in your state. A few states don’t allow online application, but a few that offer, permit you to download the DL form online.
On downloading the form online, you simply need to fill it and submit it at your nearest RTO office along with the relevant documents.
Having a mode of transport (Be it a car or a bike) has become a necessity for travelling. While owning a vehicle is important, it is equally important to carry the responsibilities that come with it as well, like having a driving licence, getting valid car insurance or a bike insurance policy (as per your vehicle type). As per the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, a driving licence and a third-party motor insurance is legally mandatory to drive or ride on Indian roads.
