Aadhaar cardholders can now update Photograph, Biometrics, Gender, Mobile Number and Email ID without submitting any documents. Users simply need to visit an official Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update these details, says UIDAI.
The UIDAI has recently issued a notice stating that no documents will be required to update certain personal data of Aadhaar cardholders. According to the notification, entities can update "Photograph, Biometrics, Gender, Mobile Number & Email ID" in their Aadhaar without submitting any documents. All that they would need to do is visit a nearby Aadhaar Kendra (Aadhaar Centre) with their Aadhar card and place a request to update any of the above-listed personal details.
The first 'Aadhaar Seva Kendra' was operationalized in Delhi and Vijayawada, The Economic Times reported. Other cities where the UIDAI has commenced Aadhaar Seva Kendra services include Chennai, Bhopal, Agra, Hisar, and Chandigarh. The UIDAI reportedly plans to open 114 Aadhaar Seva Kendras across the country by the end of 2019. These centres are being established with the intent to facilitate enrolment, updation and other activities pertaining to Aadhaar.
