Jeevan Pramaan

Pension is the only mode of income for many retired employees. The central and state government employees get a monthly pension after retirement. However, they have to provide a life certificate every year in the month of November in order to continue receiving a monthly pension. It can be difficult at times for ageing pensioners to visit the bank to submit their life certificate every year.

The Government of India has come up with a digital life certificate named Jeevan Pramaan. It is a biometric-enabled digital life certificate for pensioners. Pensioners of central, state or any other government organisation can avail the benefit of this service. Digital Life Certificate for pensioners aims to streamline the whole process of securing a life certificate. With this service, pensioners’ requirement to be physically present in front of the pension disbursing agency or the certification authority becomes a thing of the past.

Benefits of Jeevan Pramaan

  • Jeevan Pramaan makes it easier for pensioners to submit yearly Digital Life Certificate. They need not have to be present physically to get a Life Certificate.
  • The verification process is done using the biometric-enabled Aadhaar authentication, which eliminates the chances of fraudulent activities.
  • On the successful generation of Jeevan Pramaan certificate, an SMS notification is sent to the pensioner.
  • Digital Life Certificate cannot be generated without the approval of the pensioner.
  • Upon submission of the Digital Life Certificate, the pensioner will get his/her monthly pension in their pension account.

Registration Process for Jeevan Pramaan

User can get registered for Jeevan Pramaan by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Open the Jeevan Pramaan application in mobile.
  • Select the option for new registration.
  • Enter the required details such as mobile number, Aadhaar number, bank account number, bank name, and pension payment order.
  • Click on “Send OTP” to generate a one-time password on the mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP.
  • Authenticate the details through biometric verification using Aadhaar card.
  • Click on the "Submit" button and UIDAI will verify the details. A Pramaan ID will be generated against the details provided by the user after successful registration.
  • User can use this Pramaan ID to log in to Jeevan Pramaan account.

How does it work?

  • Enrolment: User needs to download PC or mobile app or can alternatively visit the nearest Jeevan Pramaan centre for registration. Provide the required information such as Aadhaar number, bank account number, bank name, pension payment order, etc.
  • Aadhaar authentication: The user needs to provide biometric information either with fingerprint or Iris to authenticate him/herself. It is important to note that you must have an Aadhaar card, as Jeevan Pramaan uses the Aadhaar platform to authenticate biometric online.

  • Life certificate: On successful authentication, the user will receive an SMS acknowledgement on registered mobile number, including his/her Jeevan Pramaan certificate ID. The certificate can be accessed anytime and anywhere by the pensioner and the Pension Distributing Agency from the Life Certificate Repository.

Pensioner or the Pension Distributing Agency can download a PDF copy of Jeevan Pramaan from the website by providing the Jeevan Pramaan ID or Aadhaar number. Life Certificates can also be electronically transferred to the Pension Distributing Agency without any human intervention.

How to Avail Jeevan Pramaan Facilities Online?

One can avail Jeevan Pramaan facility online by visiting Jeevan Pramaan official website or downloading Jeevan Pramaan mobile application. The user needs to download the application for Android/Mac/Windows and install it to his/her device. A biometric device needs to be attached to the PC/smartphone/tablet to avail Jeevan Pramaan services.

How to Generate Jeevan Pramaan Certificate?

Jeevan Pramaan certificate can be generated online through the application. Follow these steps to generate Jeevan Pramaan certificate online:

  • Login to Jeevan Pramaan app by entering Pramaan ID and OTP.
  • Select “Generate Jeevan Pramaan option”.
  • Enter mobile number and Aadhaar number and click on “Generate OTP” button.
  • An OTP will be sent to the mobile number. Enter the same in the space given.
  • Enter details such as pensioner name, PPO number, type of pension, name of sanctioning authority, name of pension disbursing agency, email ID, select options for re-married and re-employed.
  • Select the “No object” option and scan fingerprint or iris.
  • The system will authenticate biometric input using the Aadhaar data.
  • On successful authentication, the Jeevan Pramaan certificate will be displayed on the screen.
  • The system will send a confirmation message to the user's mobile number with Jeevan Pramaan certificate ID.

Eligibility to Avail Jeevan Pramaan

One can avail the facilities of Jeevan Pramaan digital life certificate if he/she meets the following eligibility criteria:

  • He /she should be a pensioner
  • He/she should be a retired employee from central, state or any other government authorities.
  • He/she should have an Aadhaar number
  • The Aadhaar number of the applicant should be registered with the Pension Distributing Agency.

You need to download the Jeevan Pramaan application on your PC/Mobile/Tablet for Android/Mac/Windows operating systems. Once downloaded, safely install the application on your device and start the registration process.

How can I submit a Jeevan Pramaan at home?

Apart from submitting the Life Certificate physically, you can also do it online from your home. The digital Life certificate can be submitted through Jeevan Pramaan application in just a few steps. All you need to do is install the app and get yourself registered with Jeevan Pramaan. The primary purpose of this facility is to streamline the entire process with a digital platform and give pensioners the flexibility to submit their yearly life certificate from home.

How do I get a digital life certificate?

Getting Digital Life Certificate is an easy process. Download the PC or mobile application and enrol yourself or you can visit the nearest branch of Jeevan Pramaan centre to get yourself registered. Complete Aadhaar authentication and you will be able to download your Digital Life Certificate.

How do I submit my digital life certificate through Umang?

  • Download the UMANG app from the app store.
  • Search for Jeevan Pramaan service in the services section.
  • Connect the compatible biometric device to authenticate Aadhaar.
  • Click on “General Life” tab.
  • Your mobile number and Aadhaar number will appear in the Pension Authentication tab.
  • Click on “Generate OTP” button.
  • Scan for biometric and authenticate.
  • Click on the “View Certificate” option to access your Digital Life certificate. The certificate can also be viewed using Jeevan Pramaan ID and Aadhaar number.

What is new in Jeevan Pramaan version 3.0?

The UIDAI has recently decided to discontinue the use of "public biometric devices", and it will only permit "Registered Biometric Devices" for Aadhaar enabled authentication. To do so, the UIDAI has introduced a new Aadhaar authentication system, and to support this new framework, version 3.0 of Jeevan Pramaan application has been introduced.

I already have a biometric device; can I use it with Jeevan Pramaan ver 3.0?

Yes, you can use your current device by upgrading it to a registered device. To do so, you need the RD service, which is usually provided by the device manufacturer.
