Umang App

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) - developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and National e-Governance Division - was launched with the intent to drive mobile governance in India. The application allows users to view or access various customer-centric services, such as EPF, PAN, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, gas booking, etc. through a single platform. UMANG service is available on different channels like mobile application, IVR, web and SMS, accessible via smartphones, feature phones, tablets and desktops.

How to Register on UMANG App?

New User Registration: After launching the UMANG URL, users have to complete the registration process if they want to avail services on UMANG. Those interested can register for UMANG through their mobile number. The below steps need to be followed to register using mobile number:

  1. Launch the UMANG website.
  2. Select User Login.
  3. Press on New User. The Registration screen will show up.
  4. Enter mobile number and select Next to proceed. The Mobile Number Verification screen will pop up.
  5. Enter the One Time Password sent to the mobile number. The Set MPIN screen shall then appear.
  6. In Enter your MPIN, provide the MPIN to be set.
  7. In Confirm MPIN, provide the same MPIN for confirmation.
  8. Click Next to proceed. The Security Question screen appears to allow users to recover their account, should they forget their MPIN.
  9. Select two questions and provide responses to these questions during the time of registration.
  10. Click Next to proceed. 11.The Mobile Number Verification screen will appear.
  11. Enter the OTP received. The UMANG Home screen will appear.

How to Withdraw EPF Using UMANG App?

To make withdrawals from EPF through the UMANG App, the following steps have to be followed:

  1. Login using credentials.
  2. Select the option ‘EPF’.
  3. Choose ‘Employee Centric’, press on ‘Raise Claim’ and enter EPF UAN number.
  4. Enter OTP sent to registered mobile number.
  5. Select type of Online EPF withdrawal claim and submit via the UMANG App. A reference number will be sent to the user that will help track the claim

How to Check EPF Balance on UMANG App?

To check EPF balance on UMANG App, one needs to follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Open the app and select the EPFO option.
  2. Click on the 'employee centric service' to continue
  3. Under 'employee centric service', the user can avail two services: view passbook and raise the claim. Press on the view passbook tab.
  4. Enter the active UAN. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.
  5. On entering the correct OTP, the individual will be able to view the complete list of his or her EPF accounts created during employment with various employers.

UMANG App Login

There are two modes by which users can log into the UMANG portal. The first is by using their mobile number - MPIN or OTP and the second is via social media. In case of the latter, individuals can login to UMANG by using one of the following social media accounts - Facebook, Google+ or Twitter. However, this is only possible if the social media account is linked to the UMANG account.
