UAN Registration

For any type of services related to your EPF (Employee Provident Fund) account, you must have a UAN (Universal Account Number). With UAN number, you can review your passbook, check PF balances and much more. UAN is a unique 12-digit number allotted to a member, by (EPFO) the Employees Provident Fund Organisation. The UAN is a permanent number and remains valid throughout the life of the member, irrespective of change in employment. UAN number also helps in automatic fund transfer and PF withdrawal.

The EPFO has listed out a few benefits of UAN, to help understand its importance.

Firstly, UAN is a lifelong account number. It eliminates the need for having a different provident fund account while changing your employer or organisation. This eliminates the need for remembering more than account details.

Secondly, UAN has the facility to link more than one PF account of the same member. For instance, if you decide to change your job, you can transfer your current PF account, link it with a new job and continue to contribute in your PF account. This increases your saving balance, and further increases your pension benefits on retirement.

Furthermore, UAN number is a digitally authenticated KYC (Know Your Customer), which would club all of your previous PF account numbers. Considering it is a digital process, you need not have to visit any branch like the in case of a bank, to club your accounts.

With Aadhaar enabled UAN Number, you can submit your claims directly with EPFO. Moreover, if your UAN number is linked with Aadhaar, PAN and bank account details, you do not even need your employer’s signature to process the claim, you can directly claim your PF balance.
