EPF Form 19

Employee’s Provident Fund (EPF) is a retirement saving scheme available to all salaried individuals. It is a savings platform that allow employees to save a portion of their salary each month and use it in case they are rendered unfit to work or at the time of retirement. Employees can also place a request for the final settlement of the EPFaccount after having left the job. An individual who wishes to do so i.e. withdraw funds for final settlement, is required to fill up and submit Form 19. Form 19 can be used for i) PF final settlement, ii) pension withdrawal benefits or iii) PF non-refundable advance. While the first two options can be selected during the time of termination of service by retirement or otherwise, the third option can be used during service, provided certain terms and conditions are fulfilled.

The contents of EPF Form 19 are as follows:

  2. a) Father’s Name b) Husband’s Name (in case of married women)
  3. Date of Birth
  4. Name and Address of the Factory / Establishment
  5. a) P.F. Account No. b) Universal Account Number (UAN)
  6. Date of Joining the Establishment
  7. Date of leaving Service
  8. Reason of leaving Service
    • Service terminated on account of (a) ill health of member (b) Contraction /Discontinuation of employer’s business or (c) Other Cause beyond the control of the member
    • Personal Reasons
  9. Permanent Account No.(PAN) Whether submitting Form No. 15 G/15 H, if applicable (Yes/No) Please enclose two copies of Form No. 15G/15H, if applicable
  10. Full Postal address

Conditions to Withdraw PF amount using Form 19

An individual can use Form 19 to withdraw PF amount. He or she can place a request either at the time of retirement or while leaving the present job. Now, for the purpose of withdrawing the PF amount, one will need to satisfy two conditions. They are:

What is EPF Form 19?

EPF Form 19 is used to withdraw funds from the EPF account for final settlement.

If PF amount is not settled within twenty days, where can an individual report the matter?

The individual can approach the Regional P.F. Commissioner who is in charge of handling grievances. There is the facility of filing a complaint on the website using the EPFiGMS feature, which can be found under the section 'For Employees'.

When can EPF Form 19 be filed?

EPF Form 19 has to be submitted at least two months after leaving the service.

How to submit an application for withdrawing provident fund if the employer does not attest the claim form?

It is the responsibility of the employer to attest the application form. Should any dispute arise, the member may ask for attestation preferably from the bank in which he or she has an account with and thereafter handover the same to the Regional P.F. Commissioner, stating the reasons for not obtaining the employer's signature. The Regional P.F. Commissioner will look into the matter with the employer when necessary. In case the member has activated his or her UAN and linkedbank account and Aadhaar, then the individual can submit a composite claim (Aadhaar) that only require the member's signature.

Can EPF be withdrawn offline?

Yes, individuals can place a request to withdraw EPF offline.

Is it necessary to submit Form 15G/H for EPF withdrawal?

If an individual withdraws their EPF after 5 years of employment, then he or she is exempt from paying tax. To be exempted from paying tax for withdrawal of EPF before the 5-year period, Form 15G/H has to be submitted.

Is it possible to claim the EPF settlement amount through cheque?

Yes, one can claim EPF settlement amount via cheque. The individual will have to mention the EPF withdrawal amount and put his or her signature on it.
