Who Should Create an ABHA Account?

It is advisable for everyone to create an ABHA account, as it's free of cost, and backed by the government. There is absolutely no reason why one should miss out on the benefits offered by an ABHA account. Here are individuals who are more likely to create an ABHA account:

  • General Public: ABHA is best for storing digital records in one place online.
  • Senior Citizens: As most health insurance does not cover the elderly, senior citizens should enjoy the benefits of AB PM-JAY.
  • Frequent Travelers: The best and easiest way to store and access your medical records all over India is to store them in one place, ABHA.
  • Health Insurance Holders: ABHA helps in verifying insurance policies and helps in the claim process as well.
  • People Seeking Paperless Healthcare: Those who want to avoid carrying physical documents like prescriptions, reports, and medical history.

AB PM-JAY Expands to Cover Seniors Over 70

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana will be covering insurance up to ₹5 lakh for individuals that are above the age of 70. This is a great move considering individuals above the age of 70 are not generally covered with health insurance due to their older age. Anyone who in another government can switch to AB PM-JAY to enjoy its benefits.

The Future of Healthcare with ABHA Card

The Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card is an initiative under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) aimed at revolutionizing India’s healthcare system. Here are a few key points that ABHA can potentially uplift in the healthcare system of India in the near future:

  • Digital Healthcare System: ABHA aims to completely store an individual’s medical history and data online securely. It will be a library of medical data from patients' previous health related problems to information for hospitals and insurance companies.
  • Fast and Accurate Information Access: As the information stored will be digital, it can be accessed throughout India seamlessly, without the hassle of carrying old documents around that can be mis-interpreted at times.
  • Enhanced Telemedicine and Remote Monitoring: The ABHA card can provide online consultations and remote monitoring. Patients can connect with healthcare professionals digitally, and access necessary healthcare services from the comfort of their homes.
  • Ease on Insurance: With the patient’s medical history easily accessible through ABHA, approvals of insurance policies can be way faster and easier. On the other hand, the claim process will also be seamless with transparency provided by ABHA.
  • Data Security: ABHA is built with strong encryption and is user-consent based. It means the user can control who can view their data. With strong encryption, data breach is minimized and data security will be at maximum.
