E-Challan in Karnataka

The E-Challan system in Karnataka makes the whole challan system digital and corruption free. The E-Challan system works in the following way:

• CCTVs are installed on highways and near traffic signals to monitor vehicles on the roads. If a violation has occurred (No seatbelt, going over the speed limit, etc.) it captures the footage for future.

• This footage is then reviewed by a traffic cop who determines if the violation is legit.

• Similarly E-Challans are also issued by the traffic cops using their hand held devices for violations.

• The violator will be notified through SMS on their registered mobile number of the infringement.

• The violator can then check the status of their E-Challan through the Parivahan web portal or Karnataka Police Department portal.

• Then, they can either pay the fine online or offline and receive a receipt.

You can check your E-Challan status online in the state of Karnataka through the Karnataka Police Department portal or Parivahan portal.

Through Karnataka Police Department Portal:

• Visit Karnataka Government Website

• Click on “Services” Section, then go to “Police”

• Here, click on the “Pay violation fine” option

• You will be redirected to a page that shows offline centers and “Pay online”

• You will need to login in-order to see your status online

• After logging in, provide the necessary car details (Registration number/Challan number)

• You will be redirected to a page where you can see your out-standing E-Challan and choose to pay for it there

Through Parivahan Website:

• Visit the Parivahan E-Challan Website

• Click on "Check Challan Status"

• Enter your Challan Number/Vehicle Number/Driving licence Number

• Fill in the Captcha Code and click "Get Detail”

• The system will show any pending challans with payment options

In Karnataka, you can pay E-Challan fines online through Parivahan Website or through Karnataka Police Department Portal. Also, E-Challans can be paid through various UPI apps like Gpay, PayTM, etc.

How to Pay E-Challan Fines Offline in Karnataka?

You can pay E-Challan fines offline in Karnataka by:

• Paying the fine with cash on the spot at the time when the traffic cop issues an E-Challan through their machine. Make sure to collect the receipt from the traffic cop.

• Take the challan/letter received from the traffic cop to the nearest police station and you can pay the fine there.
