Uttarakhand RTO

Post reorganisation of Uttar Pradesh in 2000, Uttarakhand State came into existence. The Transport Department of Uttarakhand is headed by the Transport Commissioner, Uttarakhand.

The Transport Department of Uttarakhand functions under the provisions of Section 133 A of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939.

The main objective of Uttarakhand Transport Department is to bring in the enforcement of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

The Transport Department of Uttarakhand ensures road safety and an economic transport service for the movement of passengers and goods on the roads of Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Transport Department offers different services to facilitate the welfare of road transport and safety, such as issuance license, registrations of vehicles, issuance of permits, etc.

A car insurance policy is mandatory for every vehicle registered at Uttarakhand RTO as per The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

• License – Issuance of learner license, permanent license, renewal of license and issuance of duplicate license.

• Registration – Registration of vehicles, renewal of RC, issuing duplicate RC, ownership transfer, endorsement and change of address in RC, No Objection certificate.

• Permits – Issuance of All India Permits, Issuance of Private Service Permit, Renewal and Duplicate of Permits, Temporary Permit, Stage Carriage, and Contract Carriage Permit.

• Collection of Vehicle Taxes - Collection of Tax for Registered Vehicles, Collection of Tax for Other States Vehicles Visiting Uttarakhand.

• Issuance of Fitness Certificate – Issuance of fitness certificate for transport vehicle, temporary fitness certificate.

• Penalties – Levying Penalty.

• Miscellaneous – Collection of License, Pollution testing, Permit and Model Approval, Approval of garages, Approval of L.P.G Kit makers and Retro fitment center.
